We've had an exhausting but great first day in London today. We left home on Tues at, 4:30AM. and after flying to Boston and then on to London arrived here today (Wed) at about 7:00 AM. We had big plans to sleep on the Boston to London flight but it proved more than difficult. But we didn't let the lack of sleep prevent us from having a great day. We took the express Train from Heathrow, to Paddington Station in London and then a strange little cab to our Hotel. It was too early to check in, so we stored our bags and started out to make the best use of the time we had left of the day. Below are a few of the many pictures we took today
One of the first things we did today after dropping our bags off at the hotel was to walk over to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard. We lucked out and managed to find a pretty clear view in spite of lots of tourists.
Our hotel was in a great location, right across the street from the Royal Mews (horse stables) and within a short walk of the Palace.
Simce it was very close to the hotel, The Royal Mews was one of our first stops. We saw all the Royal Coaches, including the one above that was used in the Queens Coranation in 1953
One of the working carrages that was leaving the Mews when we were there.
After theMews we walked down to see Parlamentt and Big Ben. This is a veiw of the Londen Eye, accross the river from where we were.
To end the day we found a great little pub, acroos from the Parlament building. Marlene had her first real British Fish and Chips.
