Our second day in London started with a big full English breakfast which included, as you can see above, two eggs that were cooked in hot 0il, pork and beans, baked tomatoes and bangers....very yummy, but a tad greasy.
On our journey to our first stop we passed by Big Ben as we had the evening before and took a few pictures. Our first stop after Big Ben was the Tower of London. We took the Hop on Hop off bus to get there and got a good flavor of London during the drive.
We were guided around and through The
tower of London, by one of the Yowmen Warders. These men live with their familys right on the grounds of The Tower of London, and are all retired military. They really know their stuff.
This is the oldest building on the grounds, called the
White Tower and was build by William the Conqueror
A selfie outside the Tower of London Grounds.
One of the highlights of this tour was seeing the Crown Jewels, witch are stored here. We couldn't take photos inside but this is one of the armed military gurads stationed outside.
Inside the White Tower is a fantastic collection of ancient armour, of all kinds, much it owned by past kings.
Ourt next stop was the Tower Bridge.
A vew down the Thames River from the top span.
We even got to see the engine room that controlled the draw bridge. Marlene is standing in front of one of the coal fired boilers that provided the power.
After taking a boat ride down the river durning a down pour, our last stop of the day was the Churchhill War Roooms. Here Winston Churchill is using one of the phones in his underground office.
