London, day 3, June 24 2016

Our third and final day started with our first double deck bus ride using our Oyster Cards, which have a set amount of money on them for any of the buses or Underground trains in London.  They were surprisingly easy to use, but figuring out the schedule was somewhat of a challenge.   We decided that our first stop for the day would be Kensington Palace, so got the bus that would take us there.  We didn't know however that the Royal Albert Hall was very close to the Palace, so we made a quick change of plans when we saw it, and decided to take a tour of it first .  It was an amazing building started by Prince Albert and completed by his wife Queen Victoria, after his death.

We had a great tour of the building  and actually got to see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in rehearsal, although we couldn't take pictures of them but got the one above after they were finished.  We also saw the Royal Box, and even the private sitting room that the Queen uses when she comes to the hall.

After going through Royal Albert hall we walked on over to Kensington Palace, and went all through the public areas.  Above is the outside of the Palace, with a statue of Queen Victoria in the foreground.

The oldest part of the palace was used by William and Mary.  The bed pictured above was used by Queen Mary.

Marlene felt she had to get all dressed up to visit the Palace.

Marlene descending what was called the Kings Stairway.

After the Palace we had to take a peek into Harrods Department store.

Marlene doing a little shopping, but all we ended up buying were some wonderful truffles.

The bakery section was amazing

Our final stop of the day of the Victoria and Albert Museum.

It was filled with beautiful statues and other works of art and design, and way to much to completely see in the time we had left in the day.

All in all a great final day in London, and just enough to whet our appetite for another visit.
