Isle of Guernsey June 26, 2016

Our first stop after Leaving London was the Isle of Guernsey in the channel Islands, near the French Coast.  We didn't take an organized excursion here, but spent most of the time walking around the little village, and then on to Castle Cornet which overlooked the bay.

A view looking down one of the little village streets.  It was Sunday however so most of the stores were closed.  Down by the docks  the local residents had a line of booths where local crafts were for sale.

A view inside Castle Cornet.  This was a fascinating fort, and we ended up spending most of our time here.  Inside were five separate museums.

Martin looking out at the bay beside a row of original cannons that have been at the fort for centuries.

Marlene walking through one of the garden areas of the fort.

One of the museums inside the fort showed the roll of the fort during several periods of war.  This display represented action during the First World War.
