After years of obsessing about retirement, it finally arrived on August 14, 2015. My team threw me a retirement reception at the building and it was a fun wonderful send off for me. Martin came to enjoy the festivities and meet some of the folks that I have talked about for years.
Below are just some of the folks who came to wish me well on my new adventure into retirement.
Mary Kunkel and I together in the picture below. I could not have done my job for so many years without Mary! She is the Crisis team's business analyst extraordinaire who made it all work.
Pictured below is my boss Vanessa Gaston and three of the women I have worked with for at least 15 years in various roles in the mental health community.
I was then surprised by a dinner with my closest friends Gerene McDowell, Bud and Marge Hatfield, Dee Dyck, Martin and I along with Mary Kunkel. I don't know how in the world they were able to pull off this surprise but it was amazing and definitely the cherry on top for me.
Below I am with Bud and Marge Hatfield who became my fast friends and family when I began working at Lewis County Mental Health in 1980. I love the beautiful flowers they all gave me!
Dee Dyck and I, she retired before I did from the Crisis team and talked me through my last tough months on the job. Thank you does not seem to be enough!
It was a great send off, which I know I will look back on with happiness.
