Summer at Steigerwald Wildlife Refuge

We want to visit this wildlife refuge in every season to see what the difference is in the wild life we can observe. We were able to walk in the nesting area of the park. See the picture of Martin above. This door was shut the last time we were here.
The refuge as a whole is much drier than in the early spring. This area was a huge pond, now it is filled with reeds and tall grass.
Here I am on one of the many bridges in the refuge. There is a pretty strong stream of water that goes through here on its way to the Columbia River.
Above is some unknown type of berry growing on bushes in the refuge. I am hoping that I can identify it. I am sure the fruit feeds many critters that reside here.
A metal sculpture that is placed along the trail. There are many art pieces scattered throughout the refuge for hikers to discover.
It is a weed, but it sure is beautiful. There was tons of fluffy seeds along the whole path.
Some ducks sharing their favorite log. Below is a painted turtle we discovered sunning itself on another log.
The turtle was sharing its space with the frog below.
Not as many birds or other animals this trip on a sunny summer afternoon. I look forward to visiting in the fall to see the changes in the refuge.
