Martin's Birthday Trip to Las Vegas Nevada

Martin hit a milestone on May 29th, he celebrated his 66th birthday. We decided to celebrate in style and take a trip to Las Vegas Nevada, the adult Disneyland for the world. This was our first trip since Martin retired in January, so we were celebrating two major life events for him. Above you see Martin standing in front of one of the many fountains at Caesar's Palace.
In the photo above, I am standing in front of the waterfall in the lobby of the Mirage where we stayed this time.  Below is the "Strip" as taken from one of the pedestrian bridges that allow you to cross Las Vegas Blvd, one of the more dangerous streets around.
The "High Roller", Las Vegas' version of the Eye just opened this spring. We had to take a ride. Each of the pods are built to hold 30 people and we had a pod to ourselves. It was an amazing 30 minute trip and view of the city.
The wheel does not stop and you step onto a moving pod to load and unload. Luckily there is a huge net below the loading area to catch anything or anyone who might fall!
It actually is built like a huge bicycle wheel with the spokes supporting the whole rim holding everything together.

A beautiful floral carousel located in one of the casinos. There was a guard who made sure that no one touched it as it rotated in the lobby.
Martin gambled a bit, this photo taken on his birthday. He took one of me below in the old downtown section of Las Vegas known as the Freemont Experience.
We went to a couple of shows as well. We saw Terry Fator an amazing ventriloquist who was rewarded with his Vegas contract 5 years ago after winning the TV show America's Got Talent. We also saw David Copperfield whose magic is classic and baffling. He made 8 audience members disappear!  He did so many of his illusions in the middle of the audience, making them even more mind boggling. He performed in a 2 hour show that was worth every penny of the cost.
Great vacation though we were both happy to get home to some very hysterical wolfhounds and Guido who acted like we had been gone for months. Our house-sitter said things went well except for one broken picture frame knocked down by an overly excited wolfhound. I can't wait until our next trip in August when we celebrate our anniversary!
