I worked from home today, which is pretty unusual, but there is one time a year when it works out well. I worked on my yearly performance evaluations for my staff. The raises at the County are merit based, which makes yearly evaluations extremely important. This year as happened last year, there is a wage freeze, so the outcome of this evaluation will not effect people's salary, but they are an important event anyway. This is also the time of the year when we set our personal goals for the following year. I have 16 of these to do, more than the other managers, today I completed 9. I will need one more day to wrap up this chore, then one to one meetings with everyone to let them know how they are doing. I have an extremely qualified staff all with advanced degrees and solid skills, so it makes my feedback for them much easier. As I sat at the table working away, I observed something not seen very often. Guido and Heartman were sharing the couch. Good thing Martin wasn't home, as Heartman was not laying on the dog area of the couch in our great room!
