Snow Storm that Paralyzed Portland

Yesterday, we had a surprise snow fall that completely stopped the city. The main issue was that it struck right at rush hour. Boom, 4 inches of snow with no warning. We are not set up for snow, we have very few snow plows and really no way to clean the main roadways to prevent the chaos that followed. It took me about 85 minutes to get home, it is usually about a 30 minute drive. I have studded snow tires all the way round on my van, and you can imagine my surprise after the blizzard in Vancouver to arrive in Camas to find no snow on the ground. Martin was not so fortunate, a couple of jack knifed semis and some slippery hills caused his ride home to last 6 hours Yes, 6 hours to do a drive that usually takes about 80 minutes in the morning and 2 hours on a really bad Friday night. Over 1000 people abandoned their cars in Portland what a mess. I went outside of the office and took a couple of pictures. Our building is located on the VA campus, which is an unusual. There was still about 2 inches left on the ground today. It is currently in the low 40's, so I think the snow is history. Tomorrow they are predicting an inch of rain, I can hardly wait, New Year's Eve and a blue moon.
