Europe 2019- Day one - Travel

This is the start of a two week trip to various places in Europe all in conjunction with the first Joe Bonamassa Mediterranean Blues Cruise.   Our day started early today with a Lyft  ride from home to the airport at about 5:45.  Our girls seemed oblivious to the fact that we were leaving probably thinking it was just a typical morning when we leave them in the  garage for an hour and a half for our morning walk.  Our house sitter Hilda came to the house a few hours later to take care of them so we know they are OK.

Here is Martin coming through security in Portland.  TSA pre Check is great unless you get in front of someone who can't find their boarding pass on their phone.

Our first leg of this trip was to Dallas Tx.  No this isn't what we flew in but we were treated to the sight of some of the Portland Air National Guard's F-15 Eagles taking off just ahead of our plane.

Arrived in Dallas on time after an I uneventful flight except for a few bumps when we started out landing.  Now begins the 8 hour wait for our next flight to London.  Luckily this a nice airport and we started our wait with a little lunch and refreshments.

As we were waiting at the airport gate for our next flight, we were joined by a group of Lufthansa flight attendants. They were passing goodies around left over from their flight and decided we needed something in spite of our protests. One of the flight attendants tossed this chocolate bar to Marlene. They were a great group of people who wished us a safe flight to Barcelona.

Finally our plane rolled up to the gate and we were ready for the next leg of our journey, an 8 hour flight to London.

We paid a little extra for enhanced economy, because of the length of the flight and it was well worth the extra for better seats and food, not to mention a little champagne.

After another long wait in London and then a short flight from London to Barcelona and after more than 24 hours of travel we finally made it to our hotel in Barcelona, and celebrated with a little more champagne.

We had a late dinner in our hotel and then settled into our room for a much needed sleep to get prepared for a full day in Barcelona.
