Catching Up, 2018

Not sure how it happened, but somehow we have neglected adding any entries to this blog for this entire year of 2018.  So I'm going to try to get caught up, with what were the main events for the Burrows family so far this year.

Since we retired, both of us have continued our practice of taking a 3 mile walk every morning 6 days a week, in rain, shine, or as above,  snow.

Of course our main activity throughout  all of this past year has been the care and feeding of our two, four legged family members, Emmie and Norrie.  Here you see Emmie giving Norrie a loving "kiss" while Norrie valiantly holds onto her "baby"  ( a stuffed monkey"

Towards the end of February we took our fourth annual "Blues Cruise" featuring Joe Bonamassa as well as numerous other blues performers. For this cruise we left from Miami, and went to Jamaica.

Although we didn't see a lot of Jamaica (mainly because of State Department warnings) what we did see was beautiful.

Of course the highlight of any of these Blues Cruises is the music.  Here is Joe giving it his all.

For Easter this year we resumed our annual tradition of going up to see Marlene's family in Seattle.  Here is Marlene looking at her sister's Maxine's new little house built in the backyard of Marlene's nephew Paul.

One of the Easter Photos this year with Maxine, Ann, Paul, Marlene and Martin.  Somehow Lisa got left out of this one.  (probably taking the photo)

In Late May we managed to squeeze in our annual short  trip to Las Vegas.  This year Martin celebrated his 70th birthday there.

A very big highlight of the year for 2018 was Molly's marriage to Dan Neil.  Here Marlene is helping Dan with last minute preparations.

For the wedding we were happy that my sister Laurie (far  right) was able to come from Minnesota to visit and take part in the wedding.  Here she is with our long time mutual friend Jim Fiscus, and his wife Shaun.

The Girls celebrated their second birthday this year.  Here they are receiving their special birthday treat.

We worked in a short trip to Eastern Oregon in the summer, and had a quick stop at Maryhill Museum for a little picnic lunch.

We both continued to volunteer for the West Columbia Gorge Humane society this year.  In addition to working at the shelter once or twice every week, we also took a shift at the WCGHS tent during Camas Days, in downtown Camas.

And another short trip we took was a couple days on the Washington coast for Marlene's Birthday.

And when we got back from the coast, our Granddaughter Anna, made a great birthday cake for Marlene.

And in August we once again did our annual volunteer stint for the Hood to Coast relay race.  Not sure how many years this makes, but a lot.....

Our big trip this year was back to Illinois for Marlene's 50th high school reunion.  We started out with a few days in Chicago where we had a great time seeing all the sights and eating all the best food Chicago has.  This is a view from the John  Hancock building.

We spent an enjoyable several hours in Chicago's Natural History museum. The last time Martin was there was when he was 8 year old.

Can't cover everything we did in Chicago in this blog, but one of the highlights was the Navy Pier, and the Ferris wheel that is there.

Of course the main reason for this trip was the reunion itself which was in Rockford Illinois, about a 90 minute drive from Chicago.  It was great to see Marlene reconnect with friends she hadn't seen in so many years.

We were in Rockford for 3 days and during that time got to take tours of Marlene's old middle school and high school

We went to a pizza party and then a big reunion dinner as well.

From Marlene's high school yearbook.  She's in to top row, middle.

It was a great trip, and Marlene had a wonderful time reconnecting with old friends, and Martin enjoyed it more than his own 50th reunion.

Lots of stuff we left out from a great year, but will try to keep up a little better from now on.  Will end this post with one last picture, of our Grandson, Brandon and their great dog Brie.
