Today Martin and I headed to the County Event Center for the Antiques and Collectibles show. We never really have anything in mind to buy, but it is always fun to see what the vendors are selling. The show was a good one, there were over 400 hundred displays of wares, and we spent about 3 hours looking at each and everyone. We debated a couple of purchases but decided on a Lutted's S.P. Cough Drop House in a pink glass. We just googled it and found out that even if it is a reproduction which were made in the 1970's, we paid about a third of what it was worth. So a bargain to boot, though no explanation why we both liked it, and will probably use it for a candy dish or for cookies. The other 'find' was a centerpiece for the dining room table that has 4 cobalt blue square sections separated by clear candle holders that can be arranged in different ways. Again, drawn to the cobalt blue and the ability to use the pieces in different ways. I will check the web out and see if I can get any information about this one as well. After the show, we stopped at the Birkenstock store that is right next to the Event Center and replaced Martin's Arizonas that Sailor chewed up when he was a puppy. We found a pair for 50% off, which made us both happy. Very hungry after all this shopping we headed north to a very old restaurant in Woodland called the Oak Tree for a late lunch. Great day, and did a great job of avoiding all my usual Saturday chores!
