I've just deleted a long standing item on this blog..."Things that irritate the Hell out of me" I guess I figured that I've irritated enough people who may have fit into one of the groups of people that irritated me, long enough, and hopefully haven't totally alienated friends or family who fit in any of those groups...i..e. Republicans, Christians, Mormons, truck drivers, etc....and besides who really cares what irritates me...the whole concept is rather irritating. Although I still have my irritations. It seems like most of them revolve around driving, since I spend three to four hours a day doing that I get plenty of opportunity to rub elbows with irritating and downright reckless drivers.
I've still kept up one of the standard items on this Blog however; Things Eaten or Destroyed by Sailor...in fact it has grown quite big...I try to include everything on it, but occasionally I miss something. I'll be looking for something to replace the "Irritation section" Let me know if you have any ideas.
We just finished a beautiful weekend here. For a change it was warm and not raining. I took the opportunity to do some yard work and wash the car and Marlene bought some flowers and tomato plants at a plant show. I've promised to build a raised garden bed this year so we should be able to have a better garden.
We also went to the annual pottery and crafts show in Portland on Sunday. We try to go to that each year and usually add something to our collection of pottery. This year we bought a set of 3 batter bowls (small mixing bowls) and a covered casserole dish. We had lunch at an Applebys Restaurant, and for the first tried some selections off of their "Weightwatchers" menu. They were actually quite good, and the points were listed right on the menu. Marlene and I continue to do well using the on-line version of Weightwatchers. We've both passed the 10% of our starting weight milestone....still more to go.

Sick
Like a lot of people we know and work with Marlene and I have been battling seasonal sickness over the last few weeks. Mine was mainly just your average cold. Marlene’s started out as your average cold, but refused to go away or get any better. On top of that she was also running a fever for a few days. Finally she went into the doctor and found out she had pneumonia…so she ended up missing all of last week from work. She started back yesterday, and is feeling better each day.
Other than working ourselves to the bone in our jobs we don’t have a lot of new things to report. I found out that I will be taking another business trip in early May for a few days. This time to Chicago for 3 days at the Hilton Hotel on Michigan Avenue. We decided this time that Marlene is going to go with me. Chicago is practically her home town, so she’s anxious to show me around…and we might be able to get down to her real home town of Rockford for a day or so as well. We’ve got our dog sitters arranged…this time we are using someone new for part of the time..a young woman who works at our Vet, so she’s familiar with our dogs, and can handle them. We’re looking forward to the trip.
We took a day trip to Spirit Mountain last Saturday…a nice little get away, although not particularly profitable. As most often happens, we had our ups and downs, and left on the down side. Had a nice buffet dinner however…we think the quality of their food has improved since the last time we were there. As far as other diversions go – we are both reading a little more in the evenings lately. I just finished a book by Bernard Cornwell, entitled The Last Kingdom, a historical novel set in the Dark Ages in England. It revolves around the battles of King Alfred the Great in defeating the Viking attempted takeover of England. It’s really amazing how close the Norsemen came to conquering all of England. Alfred the First is the only English Monarch to have the descriptor “The Great” officially attached to his name. He is the reason England is not populated today by Danes, Swedes and Norwegians. The book I am currently reading is titled ‘Thunderstruck” by Erik Larson ..about Marconi. Just getting into it, but I think it should be good.
As far as TV goes, our favorite show at the moment is the HBO Series “John Adams” based on the book by the same name. It’s an excellent production and very true to the book.

We're Back!
Yes we are still here! We humbly apologize to everyone (both of you) who have faithfully checked this blog for some new item. We had a spurt of entry's a month or so ago, and then they just dried up. It's kind of hard to say why - real busy is what comes to mind, but then isn't everyone? So that doesn't seem to be too adequate. Maybe it's more of a change in the way we've been busy.
Both Marlene and I continue to fill our acting positions (mine for more than 6 months now - Marlene's for almost the same amount of time. Before I assumed this role, it seems like I had a little more time to do this, (bogging) during the work day - like lunch, and sometimes before work, but now I seem to be using every free minute at work to....well, work. I think for Marlene it's is the same situation. On top of that I seem to be getting out of work later than usual. I used to try to leave by 4:00 (I usually get there around 7:00) , but now it's not unusual to be there till 5:00, 6:00 or sometimes later. Since it takes at least an hour and a half to drive home (usually closer to 2 hours), and then cook dinner - by the time that's done and we've let the dogs in and out a hundred times - well you get the idea.
But were going to try to be more regular. Wow I just noticed I missed the whole month of March.
So what happened in March? Well there was Saint Patrick's day... we participated with the Wolfhounds in the annual parade in Portland. There was Easter... went to Seattle for that, and then had another Easter Dinner the next weekend for Molly, Rob & the Kids. Had some Vets visits....Sailor is up to 150 lbs! Heartman - 175!
I know there must be a lot of other things that have happened, but for the life of me I can't remember...I am getting close to 60 you know.
Well, let this be the start of more regular postings....don't give up on us, keep checking back. I promise they will get better.
